It’s the daily practices and tools that make or break you

It’s a lot more difficult than you may think it to be. Everyone wants a crisp clean life where they do not have to work all the time but still get everything done in one day. Que the dramatic music now as you learn how to have the best of both worlds, similar to how Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson always comes off to be the hardest worker in the room while still working out and marketing top athletic apparel (love Under Armor, so comfortable). He’s doing fantastic for himself, but your right; I went off track, back to the subject at hand.

Basically, getting a great work-life balance is all about being able to delegate tasks, and knowing how to manage your time is key, and having a good organizational system in place can help you get ahead of the game before it even begins for that matter.

First, a good way to delegate tasks would be by using Hubspot (which I will most likely write about later in the article). This is an amazing tool for any business owner or entrepreneur who runs their own company. It is free to use, and it is very simple to understand. You can even create a free account that will allow you access to a wide range of tools at your fingertips.

The next thing that I believe may be helpful would be organization systems in general because, without these types of things, most people would be lost and not know where to take their business (or even blog) next. The first thing that you can do is use a great notebook. I love this planner because it has enough space for me to write everything down inside of it. It also comes with stickers to use on those extra special days to make you feel warm and fuzzy all over.

Planners are great because it allows me to see my whole month in one view which I love. It makes it easier for me when trying to figure out where I should be focusing my efforts on with regards to marketing and whatnot (which leads into the next subject of time management).

For my tech aficionados, The next tool that I want to talk about is called a Trello. This helpful tool helps prioritize project tasks with ease. Think of a digital post-it board going strong of 6 cups of espresso, it is extremely useful when collaborating on a project with teammates. It is very easy to use as well, simply create a new board for each project and then add lists on which you can insert cards.

Then there is Calendly — my favorite — where I have everything from my work schedule plugged in so that I never miss a beat with regards to if I am working or not at any given time of the day. It is also great because it gives me reminders about deadlines or when an event will be taking place. Add this to your email signature and you are taking the business world by storm.

In addition to these tools, another helpful thing would include social media management software such as Hootsuite. This allows you to manage your Facebook, Twitter & LinkedIn all under one roof without having you jump around between tabs trying to figure out what platform needs attention right now. This makes it easily accessible at all times as you can put the software on your phone, tablet, or computer. Trust me friends; with these tips in mind, one should never find themselves in a state of panic at work again.

Now I know some people may disagree with me about this but I truly think that getting up early can really help one get ahead of their day and stay productive. I personally love waking up at five am, it allows me to get a head-start on the day and take my time with regards to planning out what needs to be done. You can also use this time for exercise or meditation if you are so inclined!

The last thing that I want to talk about with regards to your mindset is that you have to be able to say NO. It is ok not to take on every project, it is important for your business’ well-being if you are planning on running a long-term project here. Think of your business as a child that needs nourishment to survive, you have to feed it in order for it to thrive.

And finally, when it comes down to the end of the day; before you call it quits for the day, make sure that you are able to do something ‘fun’ or relaxing. For example, I like “The last of us” or get lost in a comedy like “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”(Sad the series has come to an end). Yes, yes watching TV will affect REM sleep, but it is a great way to unwind after a long day.

So there you have it, folks! The best way to get ahead in life passion, work hard, and be dedicated but use these tools at your disposal so that you can have a happy medium with regards to the amount of time you spend on doing whatever it is you love. It takes practice and discipline for most people I believe, but once they figure out their system, then magic happens. Work has an entirely different meaning to everybody and no two jobs are alike, kind of like a snowflake. Yes, I compared a career to a snowflake and I am sticking to it much like snow, one’s job can be a beautiful thing filled full of opportunity and joy or a very cold dreadful place. With these tools and systems in place, you will be able to crush your work-life balance like a boss.

Let me know what you think and any other great tips to share in the comments below.

You can help me change lives. It may sound lofty, but it’s true. With every like, follow, and share I receive, I am one step closer to reaching more people who need my message. The first step is always the hardest for most people, but with your help, I can empower them to take that step and create the life they envision for themselves. Thank you for being a part of my journey!
